Novella #Review: Chased: The Vampire Huntress Series, Book #1 by Ashlee Sinn ~ #Paranormal #Vampire #Romance

Sophia Glen thought she knew who she was—a twenty-something woman with no obligations who just happened to be born a vampire hunter. Spending her nights fighting to rid the city of malevolent creatures, she has earned respect from those who decide her future. Not to mention she’s captured the heart of the sexiest hunter in her crew.

Sophia enjoys the freedom and intimate connection she has with Silas. He can give her what she needs the most, a chance to let go. Finding that Silas can free her from the urge to always be in control, she allows her desires to flourish. But what Silas will never fully understand is that only their sworn enemy can give Sophia what she truly craves.

So when Sophia is forced to work with the captivating, exotic, and irresistible Viktor Kaska, she quickly learns that the ancient vampire may be exactly what she desires. Denying her growing need to feel his fangs slip into her skin, Sophia fights the attraction and focuses on taking down the mass of uncontrollable vampires tormenting the city. But when she finds herself trapped under the spell of the very vampire who betrayed them all, her future as a hunter will be changed forever.

And so will her future with Viktor.

This is the first novella of the series at 16,000 words.

My Review:

Sophia Glen is a vampire hunter - part of a group in the city that keeps humans safe.  When things begin to get really bad, her boss pulls the group into a meeting.  They are informed that they will now be working with Viktor Kaska to figure out who is behind the rash of out-of-control vampires.

In order to get a lead on the vampire or vampires involved, Sophia is forced to work directly with Viktor.  Unbeknownst to her entire team, her attraction to the enemy is just as strong as her need to kill them.  When she is dragged into a club with Viktor to learn information about the vampire responsible, she learns just how deadly and conniving the undead can be.  She, her team, and Viktor now have more than a deceitful vampire to contend with.

This first novella in Ashlee Sinn's Vampire Huntress series is well written.  Chased is a really intriguing start to a vampire vs. vampire hunter series.  The concept of vampire hunters working with vampires is a refreshing take on this paranormal genre.  I was drawn in by the author's writing style and character and world building.  The characters are enjoyable and complex but not confusing.

The plot is well constructed and descriptive.  I was captivated by Sophia, Silas, and Viktor.  The possibility of a love triangle is there since Sophia and Silas are already hot and heavy and Sophia is lusting over Viktor.  The monkeywrench tossed in near the cliffhanger ending has me wanting to read more.
