Herman Edward Heckley knows all about drywall, concrete, and nail guns. So what's he doing fighting off taffeta in a bridal salon? He’s maid of honor for his best friend, Caroline Oakenfeld, in her wedding to a pencil-necked geek. But the closer he gets to the ceremony, the more he wonders if he's been missing out all this time.
Caroline has been missing out, and she knows it. She’s been in love with Heck forever, but frittering her life away until Heck wises up isn’t part of her life plan. She’s agreed to marry her boyfriend so she can move on with her life. But the closer she gets to the ceremony, the more she realizes she has to resolve her feelings for Heck.
For better or for worse.

Imagine that your best friend is getting married and she asked you, yes, YOU, to be the Maid of Honor! How awesome would that be?! Except there's one problem.....You.Are.A.Guy.
This exactly how Kiss the Bride begins. Herman Edward Heckley III (Heck) is now Maid/Man of Honor in his best friend Caroline Ann Oakenfield's (Caro) wedding. She's marrying a man that Heck can't stand and her family isn't to fond of either. Little does anyone know the reason Caro is marrying the "pencil-necked geek." And Heck better figure it out before it's too late for everyone involved.
Kiss the Bride is short novella that isn't lacking anything. The characters are very likable. It's easy to relate to them and it pulls from very realistic scenarios. There are times when men and women just can't communicate anything properly. Kind of like the tv show "Three's Company" ~ half of the show focused on misunderstandings between the 2 female and 1 male lead, and don't get me started on the landlords.
As Caro's wedding day gets closer both Caro and Heck have some serious soul searching to do in order to get to their Happily Ever After. What a wild ride it is, too. Even as Heck begins to realize his feelings, he still proceeds with doing the Maid of Honor duties for Caro's wedding, while she is questioning herself at the same time. The bachelorette party, complete with Officer Sexy, had me in stitches.
This is a quick and easy read that is entertaining and has depth to the characters. The secondary characters were written pretty well and certainly knew all along that Heck and Caro has feelings for each other. Caro knew but Heck didn't provide any indications that he thought of her as anything other than a platonic friend.
I enjoyed every bit of this novel and am glad that I had the privilege to read and review "Kiss the Bride" for Jody Wallace.
